What is t-street Woodworks all about?

Hi, I'm Alex.

I create unique, handmade woodworking projects in my small Fort Collins, Colorado workshop. My designs blend modern, clean lines with organic shapes. I'm committed to using sustainable lumber and finishes.

As a full-time RN, dad, and husband, my life is full.  woodworking is my passion and, for now, a part-time pursuit. I take pride in the craftsmanship of every piece. I hope you enjoy my work!

Thanks for your support. Please reach out with any questions or ideas. I'd love to collaborate with you.

what do you make?

The pictures below are projects completed by me at T-Street Woodworks.  These are my  favorite woods and why I like to use them.

walnut projects & Furniture

Walnut is a beloved choice for furniture, prized for its dark, rich, and elegant tones. A walnut piece makes a true statement. While not as strong as white oak, its beauty makes it a highly desirable option.

Elm Projects and Furniture

American Elm boasts a wide grain with rich, warm tones. This medium-strength urban hardwood is sustainably sourced from Northern Colorado, and offers a unique choice for furniture. (Coffee Table below is an American Elm Coffee Table)

Siberian Elm shares many characteristics with American Elm, but distinguishes itself with slightly darker tones in its color spectrum. (All projects below, excluding coffee table, completed in Siberian Elm)

White Oak Projects and Furniture

White oak is a popular choice for dining tables due to its durability and attractive appearance. Its straight grain lends itself well to modern designs, offering a clean and contemporary aesthetic.

What kind of finishes do you use?

Choosing the right finish is a big decision, and it often depends on how the product will be used. Will it need protection from water or spills? Will it come into contact with food? Do you prefer a simple, eco-friendly, or toxin-free option? I can help you find the perfect finish.

water-based POlyurethane

Mantle

Durable, water-resistant polyurethane finish, providing robust protection tested against everything from coffee spills to Play-Doh messes. This finish does not yellow the wood and keeps its true natural color.

Oil/poly

Coffee Table

A rich, warm tone is achieved with an initial coat of linseed oil. This oil brings out layers of color not normally seem with a simple poly finish. This is followed by a durable, water-resistant polyurethane finish.

Tung oil/wax

Charcuterie Board

Tung oil offers a food-safe and water-resistant finish, providing superior durability compared to mineral oil. A final coat of wax creates a smooth feel and adds an extra layer of protection while maintaining its food-safe properties. Great for serving trays and charcuterie boards.

hard wax/oil

Bar Cart

I recommend this finish to tactile people. In other words, this finish feels like wood. Polyurethane can have a plastic feel to it, which is a sacrifice for durability.  Hard wax and oil finishes are great for light use items, bookshelves, mantels, and console tables.  Its not great for dining tables.

cutting board oil

My choice for cutting boards. Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil is a premium, 100% food-contact safe, VOC-free wood finish conditioner designed to protect and preserve wood cutting boards, charcuterie boards, wooden bowls, and more. No animal harmed in this product (not a great name, but great product)
